This project involved the adaptive reuse of an 17,000 SF existing concrete shell, originally designed for office use, as a city-owned animal care facility. The program included various animal residences: single-room-occupancies, condominiums, and secured kennel areas, as well as clinical areas, staff offices and a public lobby/adoption area. New mechanical and plumbing systems were upgraded to meet the needs of the facility. Natural light and vibrant colors were introduced in order to create lively and humane interior spaces.
