Transforming a 19th-century Victorian's modest bathroom into a luxurious spa retreat, we maximized space by adding a second bathroom and incorporated electric radiant floor heating for unparalleled comfort. This innovative design blends modern elegance with historic charm, creating a tranquil sanctuary that enhances the home's value and appeal.
In a stunning transformation, we took a modest 42 sq ft ensuite bathroom in a charming 19th-century San Francisco Victorian, converting it into a luxurious spa-like retreat while maintaining the home’s historic integrity. This project involved revitalizing the existing bathroom, which had not been updated since the mid-20th century, and repurposing an adjacent walk-in closet into a second full bathroom for guests, effectively maximizing the space's functionality through strategic and efficient planning.
Drawing inspiration from the serene beauty of Northern California's forests, we leveraged the impressive 13-foot ceiling height to create an airy and inviting atmosphere. Our design features a harmonious blend of natural materials, contrasting textures, and thoughtful spatial layering, enhanced by warm indirect lighting.
These design choices not only elevate the visual appeal but also create an illusion of spaciousness, making the bathrooms feel larger than their actual dimensions while complementing the period details found throughout the home.
A notable highlight of this renovation is the installation of electric radiant floor heating in both bathrooms, providing unparalleled comfort that enhances the overall spa-like experience.
